NEW CHURCH COMMUNITY HALL
Financial Position
Changes to Plans for New Hall Following our unsuccessful bid to the Big Lottery, the Building Committee has reviewed the plans for the new building. At the Church Meeting on 27th September it was agreed that we should go ahead with revised plans which will still include a large hall but will omit the additional learning room and scale down the size of the kitchen. A small plan will be placed in the Church vestibule The estimated present cost of the revised building is £230,000, excluding VAT - this is approximately half of the cost of the previous building. The Architect has been instructed to apply for planning permission for the revised building. New Funding Opportunities The new plans will result in the Church requiring to raise a further £170,000 which is
unlikely to be obtained from a single Funder. I have been researching and talking
to potential Funders over the last few months and have concluded that at present
there are no Funders who are likely to contribute the full £170,000. Funding Applications Since the last Newsletter we have had a number of fundraising events. The Koinonia have presented a cheque for £50 from the sale of the Memory Book. There have been two Table Top Sales on 29th September and 27th October, raising a magnificent total of £924 between them. The Friendly Circle has continued their fantastic support by raising a total of £600 since the last Newsletter. A Strawberry Tea on 14 Many thanks go again to all those who have put in the huge effort to run these events and, of course, grateful thanks go to those who have attended any of the events, for without you they would not have been a success. Future Events As we go to press a coffee morning is taking place on 26th January. Plans are in the early stages for the first Table Top Sale of 2008. The most likely date for this is 1st March but more information will be given later. Ian |
