Raising The Roof Appeal
The appeal, led by David Hoskins, hopes to raise over £30,000 from the sale of roof tiles at £5
each. The launch date was 5th March and it has already raised £805 or
161 tiles. Only 5,960 tiles to go!
Other Funding Activities
- The Table Top Sale on 4th March raised £393. This was a superb effort given the
weather conditions. Many thanks to Denise and to those who attended.
- Thanks also to Jane for organising the Beetle Drive on Saturday 25th March.
- Tickets are selling quickly for 'The Man from Galilee' presentation by Mortimer Primary
School on 8 th April.
We still need volunteers to organise other events. If you think you can help please speak with me,
Dawn or Denise.
External Funding
- The Business Plan has commenced and we hope to have this completed in time for our first
application.
- I have spent much of my time talking to various people in the borough who have experience in
applying for external funding. The good news is that they all think we have a good case to
present to the funders. The bad news is that it requires a lot of hard work to prepare the
applications. Even then, success depends on the quality of the competition!
Other News
- I have had an encouraging talk to Tim Fife, from the accountants Baker Tilley,
about VAT. We have commissioned Tim to apply to Customs & Excise for a waiver of VAT for the
construction of the Hall. If successful this will save us some £55,000. Thanks to Claire for
introducing us.

David Miliband MP has e-mailed the Church after looking at our website. He has
confirmed his continued interest in pur efforts and wishes to be kept informed of any
activities which he may attend if he is able to. This is every encouraging given his very
busy timetable.
