Our Brownie Pack celebrated its 75th Birthday in November 2001 with a party. We also visited the Town Hall when the Mayor and Mayoress showed us around the Council Chambers and the Mayor's Palour.

Our Brownie Pack began its meetings at Laygate Presbyterian Church and about ten years later it transferred to Laygate Baptist Tabernacle. The Pack has continued without any break, even during the Second World War, when, it is thought, meetings were held on Saturday afternoons, although these were often interrupted when the girls had to run up Laygate Lane to the air raid shelter and wait until the "all clear" sounded.

Thanks must be given to all those who have supported our Brownie Pack during the past 75 years, names which spring to nimd include: Ella Boddy, Jean MacIntyre, Ellen Stanger, Christine Southern, Elizabeth Lowry, Myra Drewitt(Turnbull), Dorothy Laverick, Carolyn Trotter and currently, Claire Leece and, not forgetting, Rose Temple who helps out when necessary.
