The 8th South Shields

The Object of the Boys Brigade is
the advancement of Christ's kingdom amongst boys
and the promotion of habits of
obedience, reverence, discipline, self-respect,
and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness

Anchor BoysJuniors
Anchor Boys are the youngest members of the Boys Brigade Company and are aged between 6 - 8. They meet on Tuesdays from 6.30 - 7.30pm.

The Emphasis is on fun!

The varied programme includes art and craft work, Bible stories, team relay games, unihoc and football. We also enjoy parties and special events at Easter, Bonfire Night and Christmas.

Boys do not work for badges until their final session when they are able to complete the Anchor Achievement which serves as a good way of rounding off a time in Anchor Boys before being promoted to the Junior Section.

The Junior Section meet on Fridays from 6.30 - 8.00pm for Boys aged 8 - 11.

The evening is filled with a varied programme including team relay games, uni-hoc, football, Kwick-Cricket, craft work, quizzes and badge work.

From time to time we are able to take part in Battalion Competitions for football, uni-hoc, painting and quizzes. Recently we retained the Blockbusters Quiz Trophy and successfully represented the Battalion at District level.

Boys tackle a series of achievements and in a three year term will work for six badges. These awards are structured around four main areas of:
Physical Spiritual
Interest Community

There are a possible 132 achievements to be worked at - so there's something for everyone!
