May 2001

Edition 15

On May the 12th Whitley Bay Baptist are holding an anniversary service and the Rev. David Coffey (Baptist Union General secretary) will be preaching. To date I have only received requests from two of the fellowship to attend. If you are interested please let me know ASAP.

Thanks to everyone who completed a copy of the Church Life Profile on the 29th April. These were all returned on the 30th and we await a copy of the report which will help us to promote the gospel at Marsden Road. It is anticipated that this will be late 2001/early 2002.

May 13th to May 19th is Christian Aid week and once again we are taking part in the door to door collection. If you have collected before or would like to this year I will have all the information for you on Sunday 13th May.

Thanks to all those who have agreed to donate flowers for display in the Church on a Sunday. Many thanks to Pat Peel who is arranging them on a weekly basis. You will recall that I was hoping to have a rota of flower arrangers, some of you have said that you would like to help but do not have the skill/gift. Well, help is at hand. Kathleen Richardson is willing to hold some flower arranging/training sessions in the summer holidays. If you would be interested please speak to me or Kathleen. If, after attending the course, you still do not fell able to offer your support on a rota basis then that is fine. On the other hand you might be pleasantly surprised and itching to get started. Watch this space for information and dates. For those who do not know, the flowers each week are given to those in the fellowship who are unwell or have not been with us for a period of time. A number of people have been very appreciative of these flowers and that they are being remembered.

Remember that our Gift Day is on Sunday 17th june and our guest speaker at the morning service is Rev Ernie Whalley (NBA General Superintendant). It has been decided that the monies recieved will be given to the Building Fund.

Talking about the Building Fund, some of the committee have been attending meetings recently to get some information on the funding, which includes presenting an application to the Lottery Commission.

Also, on Saturday 16th June at 7.00 a "Concert of Dance" has been arranged as a fund raising event and tickets will be available priced £2.00.

The monthly Coffee Mornings are to be held on the 19th May, 16th June and 14th July and at each we will be holding a prayer session

Prayer request - The Little Angels playgroup asks that you remember them in your prayers.

If you would like to tell others about something that is happening in the fellowship or your organisation please let me know and I will include it in the next newsletter.
