At the Special Church Meeting held on Sunday 28th January, the fellowship recommended that they supported the calling of Maurice Matheson to apply to Northern Baptist College as a student minister. The meeting also agreed that we apply to Home Mission for a zero grant for the year 2002.
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, 1st March.
The ballot of electing deacons will be held during the meeting - we therefore need to receive nominations from you. The revised constitution allows us to have 6 deacons plus the secretary and treasurer. Brenda and myself have completed another term of office and thereforehave to retire and be re-elected. This means that we have 5 vacancies to fill if we have a full diaconate. Please hand in your nomination with a seconder to myself by Sunday 118th February. Please give this matter your prayerful support and consider possible nominations.
We are still receiving ministers' names each month from our Area Superintendant Ernie Whalley and we have made contact with various ministers. To date none have expressed a desire to persue the situation further. Please continue to remember this situation in your prayers.
The Good Friday service at both Harton School and the Church will be led by Paul Willmott. Last year we had a good turn out, this is an excellent opportunity to let the neighbourhood know that we are alive and kicking.
